Latest NewsHappy Birthday CHUCK SCHULDINER (DEATH) (May 13, 1967 – December 13, 2001)
///  Date : 13th May, 2018  ///

Charles Michael “Chuck” Schuldiner (May 13, 1967 – December 13, 2001) was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He founded the pioneering band Death in 1983. In his obituary in the January 5, 2002 issue of UK’s Kerrang! magazine said that “Chuck Schuldiner was one of the most significant figures in the history of metal”. Schuldiner was ranked No.10 in Joel McIver‘s book The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists in 2009 and No.20 in March 2004 Guitar World‘s “The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists“. Schuldiner founded the publishing company Mutilation Music in 1987, affiliated with performance rights organization BMI.

Schuldiner is often referred to as “The Godfather of death metal”, although this was something he was “uncomfortable” with being known as when he was alive. He also once said “I don’t think I should take the credits for this death metal stuff. I’m just a guy from a band, and I think Death is a metal band.”

Latest NewsWill AC/DC record new music with AXL ROSE?
///  Date : 10th May, 2018  ///

AC/DC drummer Chris Slade says that his “lips are sealed” when it comes to answering questions about the possibility of the band making a new studio album with Axl Rose on vocals.

Ever since AC/DC completed the tour cycle for its 2014 album ‘Rock Or Bust‘ nearly two years ago — a turbulent trek that weathered the forced retirement and eventual death of co-founder Malcolm Young, plus the departures of longtime singer Brian Johnson, drummer Phil Rudd and bassist Cliff Williams — fans have wondered whether sole founding member Angus Young would keep the band going or decide it was time for AC/DC to pack it in.

Singer Angry Anderson of the veteran Australian act Rose Tattoo said in an interview with The Rockpit that Angus told him he is at work on new AC/DC music and intends to have Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose — who took Johnson’s place on the road in 2016 — sing on the LP.

Latest NewsFIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH bassist slams negative reaction to PARKWAY DRIVE album
///  Date : 08th May, 2018  ///

Five Finger Death Punch bassist Chris Kael slams those criticising new Parkway Drive album ‘Reverence‘ – calls negative internet reaction “f****** disgusting and unfortunate”. ‘Reverence’ was released last week, with some people criticising the band’s sound on what is their sixth record.

Kael says it’s unfortunate that people are more likely to generally leave negative comments online rather than “praise a positive experience” and calls it “disheartening”. He adds : “So, on behalf of Parkway Drive – who I guarantee are soaking in their own sense of accomplishment in putting out a record of which they are deservedly proud – this Kael Salute goes out to negativity as a whole bringing vibes down across the internet.”

In a Facebook Live video interview last week, Parkway Drive frontman Winston McCall agreed that the band had outgrown their metalcore tag, adding : “Creatively, the older we get, the more stuff we’re going to do. We’re always going to be a heavy band. What do we like doing? Melodic stuff, heavy stuff, things we’re interested in. That actually spans a hell of a lot, so we’re going to keep going to those areas.”

///  Date : 14th January, 2018  ///

One of the more combed over stories in rock and metal history concerns the early ousting of Dave Mustaine from Metallica and Mustaine’s eventual formation of Megadeth and taking that band to great heights. For many years, there were some hard feelings, but Mustaine and the members of Metallica have since reconciled and have a better relationship these days. But as one of rock’s more outspoken and frank musicians, Mustaine offered an honest assessment of where his life was in the early Megadeth days when questioned by one of his Twitter followers.

“What was your measure of success when starting Megadeth? What was your vision”, asked a fan in a question to the rocker. He responded, “My measure of success was if I ate that day or not, and my vision was destroy @Metallica and stop living in a van. Good thing I got over my animosity for leaving the band. I’m glad we reconciled… where’s the Big 4 shows???”

Mustaine and Megadeth joined Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax on the highly publicized “Big 4” shows back in 2011. He revealed in a recent interview that he nearly pulled out of the Yankee Stadium show while suffering through neck and spine injuries, but that hearing a taunt from Metallica’s co-manager Peter Mensch irked him to the point of deciding to play through the pain.

Latest NewsSATYRICON are still planning an album of covers
///  Date : 03rd January, 2018  ///

Satyricon’s mainman Sigurd ‘Satyr’ Wongraven says their planned album of cover versions is still on the cards – and reports it’ll feature more than just black metal tracks. They first reported the project in the summer of 2015, but those plans were shelved while the band concentrated on their latest studio album ‘Deep Calleth Upon Deep‘.

But Satyr says they haven’t forgotten about the record and plan a release sometime in the future. He tells Met Al Metal (via Blabbermouth) : “In general, we would like to pick up on that again. I don’t know when that will happen, because we have to really want to do it – we can’t just do it because it’s something that we didn’t finish; we have to finish it because we want to finish it.”

Satyr also hints at the material that could feature on the record and adds : “We’ve been doing songs from musical genres that have been important to us that do not necessarily relate to black metal only. We’ve been jamming covers from the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal genre, we’ve been jamming folk music, we’ve done punk rock, 70s hard rock.”

Latest NewsFIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH announce new album for 2018
///  Date : 16th October, 2017  ///

Five Finger Death Punch was sued by its label Prospect Park back in April 2016 as the label claimed the band was pushing out a sub-par album, for breach of contract, and accused the band of trying to cash in before frontman Ivan Moody completely collapsed into addiction. The band then signed to Rise Records before its contract was up and countersued Prospect Park for $1 million in damages. Five Finger Death Punch essentially said Prospect Park was holding the album hostage.

More recently, the band called the lawsuit filed against them “desperate” and the band’s producer backed their claims. Now according to a statement issued by Five Finger Death Punch to Variety, the lawsuit has been settled, there will be a ‘Greatest Hits‘ album out in December presumably on Rise, and the long-awaited new album will be released at some point in 2018.

So things seem to be pretty good in the world of Five Finger Death Punch right now. Ivan Moody is back as the frontman and seems to be dealing with addiction problems well at the moment, and the new album is finally on the horizon. Which also ties in with Moody’s issues, considering he said the lawsuit was putting a lot of stress on himself and the band.

Other high grossing dates included one in Edmonton, Alberta which brought in 4.7 million and featured support from Our Lady Peace.

At the Edmonton show, Guns N’ Roses covered a James Brown classic, “I Got You (I Feel Good)” as well as another song from Glen Campell. The tour isn’t stopping anytime soon, with the band set to perform in Newark, N.J. on Oct. 12, and play two nights at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Latest NewsMACHINE HEAD to release ‘Catharsis’ album in January
///  Date : 18th September, 2017  ///

San Francisco Bay Area metal titans Machine Head have announced the first U.S. tour dates of their world tour in support of their upcoming album, ‘Catharsis’.

Vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn states : “It’s been far too long since we’ve demolished venues in America. We have had an awesome and productive break writing our new album, ‘Catharsis’, but now it’s time for Machine Head to go melt some faces!

The reaction to our last ‘Evening With’ tours in America were nothing short of incredible, so once again these dates will be ‘Evening With’ and will see us performing two and a half to three hours every night with no opening bands.

We loved performing as an ‘Evening With’ for you Head Cases, and you guys loved it as well, the freedom to do whatever the fuck we wanted for as long as we wanted every night was liberating. It’s not what everyone else is doing, and frankly, there are not a lot of bands who could even pull it off, but Machine Head can pull it off, and we are excited as fuck to do it again. We are carving our own path here, playing by our own rules, and as an artist, it’s the best feeling in the world!

No festivals, period, no forty-five-minute slots, no supporting some stupid DJ, no parking lots in a rainstorm, The Head will only be ‘headlining,’ so come on down and rage!!”

Machine Head’s ninth full-length album, ‘Catharsis’ was recorded with Zack Ohren at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California. A January 2018 release via Nuclear Blast is expected.

Latest NewsCRADLE OF FILTH goes old school with “Achingly Beautiful”
///  Date : 17th September, 2017  ///

Cradle Of Filth seeks to extend its streak of awesome albums on September 22 with ‘Cryptoriana – The Seductiveness of Decay‘, and the new single “Achingly Beautiful” sure makes it seem like that’ll happen. The single is like the others in the aspect that it’s a little lengthy, though it’s well-written enough to where you won’t even notice that seven minutes have gone by.

Here’s what vocalist Dani Filth has to say about the song!

“Influenced by the stories of E.F. Benson, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, H. Rider Haggard, Oscar Wilde, Arthur Machen and Algernon Blackwood, to shame but a few, this song concerns itself with a spectral guest at a great masked ball who, deeply embedded in his cruel libertine nature, attends merely for merciless, seductive sport, but instead discovers the woman of his dreams and both bewitching the other, finds in her his dark, immortal equal.”

“I love this song as it has a very old-school Cradle vibe for me, both lyrically and musically, and reeking hideously of the Vampiric, the dropdown section in the middle is pure ‘A Gothic Romance’.”

“We’re starting to just compile…the process usually goes, we compile riffs, we compile some lyrics, you kind of start putting it together, we start thinking,” he tells SpazioRock. “We’ve been talking on the bus at night about the process and the location and just kind of how we’re gonna do the next album. So a lot of that. So it’s nice that we’re already thinking forward toward that. We’re gonna wrap up the tour in November, and then our intention now is to go in and start working on the record after that.”

The bassist also talked about his extended time away from the group and how he benefited from it, saying it allowed him to grow up and have fun as an adult in the band when he returned.

Decapitated “strongly deny” the recent allegations made against them but have cancelled all planned future live dates because of timeframe of legal proceedings. Waclaw Kieltyka, Rafal Piotrowski, Michael Lysejko and Hubert Wiece were arrested in Santa Ana, California, and held on suspicion of first-degree kidnapping and were later accused of gang-rape following a show in Spokane, Washington.

The band say in a statement : “While we are not perfect human beings, we are not kidnappers, rapists, or criminals. As such, we strongly deny the allegations that have recently been brought against us. We ask that everyone please reserve their judgement until a definitive outcome has been reached, as charges have yet to be pressed. Latest NewsARCH ENEMY’s new song invites you to your “First Day in Hell”
///  Date : 07th September, 2017  ///

We’re just one day away from the release of Arch Enemy‘s 10th studio album, ‘Will to Power‘. It’s the second with frontwoman Alissa White-Gluz and first with former Nevermore axeman Jeff Loomis as the band continues to evolve their hyper-melodic, anthemic sound. While fans anxiously await the full record, whet your appetite with the freshly released “First Day in Hell”.

A clean-toned, doom-laden Middle-Eastern melody opens up the song, building tension with well-timed cymbal strikes before distorted guitar chugs alternate with melodic leads. “First Day in Hell” takes more of a rhythm-first approach over the verse, riding a fierce gallop that provides the foundation for White-Gluz’s choppy death growls. With short bursts of more melody from Loomis and mainman Michael Amott, the track volleys between lunging riffs and Arch Enemy’s prototypical sound with a winding arrangement.

Latest NewsMikkey Dee : More music to come from MOTORHEAD
///  Date : 03rd September, 2017  ///

Motorhead drummer Mikkey Dee says there’s more music to be heard from the band, although he’s not sure when it will be revealed. The iconic outfit came to an end with the death of leader Lemmy Kilmister in 2015. They’ve just released ‘Under Cover‘, an album of cover versions recorded from 1992 until just before the band finished.

Last year he said a Motorhead archive album was unlikely to be made because there wasn’t much material left over. Now he reports : “There is some stuff around, but I don’t know exactly what. I know we have a lot of live [material]. But there’s nothing in plans as of now. We haven’t talked about it, but I’m sure there’s plenty, both video and audio.”
